Surplus Equipment

The equipment below was evaluated in June 2011 and deemed operational.  It may be deployed or recycled as required.

All equipment requires:

  • an account on the domain controller in the appropriate container
  • a label on the system and the monitor that matches the machine login (no password).
  • monitor
  • some systems come with their own keyboards/mouse; others do not.  The configuration pages indicate supplied items.  Others can come from storage in the lab or may require purchase.
  • ports in primary classrooms may need to be heated if they were not previously used.
  • network cords are available in a box in the lab (or extras behind the big labeled box).

There is an abundance of RND Pin Keyboards, some USB Mice and Keyboards and only a few extra monitors available.  There are batteries in a blue container for PCs (coin) and the rechargeables (a few) for FrontRow equipment.  USB cords (different types) in box near network cords.  Lots of power cords (yellow container middle cupboard and another entire box in the switch closet.  Old Parallel and Serial cords in switch closet.  DVD splitters and cords in switch closet.  Desktop speakers, extra classroom and extra lab cords in switch closet.  Look around before buying anything...extras are kept as backup on most things.

Lab Surplus EQ cupboard 2 - Gyration Air Mouse Gyration wireless air mice; works with Motiontools

Batteries leaked in one mouse; problems with both mice working--didn't have batteries/time to complete.

Requires cleaning battery contacts; new batteries and testing.  Good use as remote mouse for Multimedia Cart and mouse was expected to be used wirelessly with Lab_Admin2 machine for demonstration in lab.  If mouse doesn't work as expected, suggest buying Logitech mouse to work with Logitech wireless keyboard (single USB dongle).
