Picasa is a photo or image management application supplied free by Google. It works seamlessly with Picasa Web Albums, a Google application. It is used at Grant to manage classroom photos and student artwork.

Installation
Picasa is installed on teacher configured systems and on some "multimedia" designated student systems.

- Shortcuts and system tray icons are used.

- Recommended installation folder: installation program default (C:\program files\Google\picasa3)
Configuration Information
Upon initial installation/user configuration, the following settings are recommended:
- Scan My Documents
- Allow Picasa Photo Viewer with all types of file extensions

Displaying/Sharing Photos & Student Work in Picasa Web Albums
Guidelines/Requirements for Sharing Student Work and Photos
These following guidelines apply to any website, not just for use with Picasa Web Albums
Photos
- All photos are for the sole purpose of building student work or for educating/communicating with the Grant community (parents, staff and students).
- Photos should be behind a login of some type and be "unlisted" or "sign-in to view" - See Definitions below):
- Photos should only be available for a limited timeframe. (See Setting Album Properties).
- Photos may not be in "public web albums" to protect students (See Setting Album Properties).
- Student names should not appear with the photos.
Student Work
- All student work is protected by copyright laws.
- Work should only be shared with Grant parents, staff and students.
- Student work should be available behind a login of some type (link sent in email (District account) or a login page on this wiki
- Work should only be shared for a limited period of time.
- Student work should have first name only on it.
- Student work may not be posted in public Picasa web albums (See Setting Album Properties).
How to Share Photos and Student Work with the Grant Community using Picasa
The process to share photos and student work is the same. The instructions below ensure you meet the guidelines established by the district for copyright, personal information, internet use permission and above all, child safety.

Should you wish to share student work outside the school community (Grant Parents, Staff and Students), please consider the following:
- Obtaining a written statement from each student to share/post their work
- Adding the copyright statement below when sharing it:
