Classroom Computers with SheLaunch

This page identifies the configuration setup and options for Classroom Computers at Grant using an alternative shell call Shelaunch which offers only 4 options.  The systems are configured as "thin clients" to access software and the internet through the Terminal Servers.

Description

Classroom computers are essentially "thin clinet" PCs.  All systems are now Windows 2000 or Windows XP.  With the exception of laptops, the classroom computers are Dell GSX240, GSX260 and GSX270 computers.

They are configured to run a special shell which creates a "thin client" application screen with the following applications:

  • Remote Desktop to the default thin client. (is this set to launch automatically?)
  • Internet Explorer kiosk to log a problem into Spiceworks
  • Hidden commands to switch to Windows Explorer

The system is configured to "autologin" with the client on the network (is this necessary?  Should we just login locally and connect?)
