Have questions?  Check out the list below.

What are the requirements?

  • Program is open to Grant students only
  • All Grades
  • Try to write 3-5 pieces
  • Proofread, spell and grammar check before you submit, please!
  • Finished documents will receive feedback and publication in a book for our school library (your choice).
  • Participants will be recognized at the first BEST Assembly when school starts.

Where can I find some "starters" or other ideas?

How does it work?

  • You read and talk over the requirements.
  • Once you've decided to participate, sign up and fill out the form.  Click submit.
  • The form sends an email to Mrs. Franklin who will then send you an email so you have her email address.

Can students enter any time?

  • You bet.

Is there a deadline for submitting entries?

  • Mrs. Franklin will take entries all the way to the beginning of the next school year.  However, you may not have any feedback before school starts if you enter later than August 12th.

Do we have to wait until we've written 3-5 pieces before submitting?

  • No, but if it is a book with chapters, it may make sense to send at least two chapters.

What if a student wants to write something that isn't on the list above?

  • That's great.  Just fill out the form and indicate your question or what you'd like to writ in the form comment box.

Why use the form?

  • We want to prevent spam from clogging Mrs. Franklin's email inbox.

What will happen to student writing?

  • Writing will be reviewed by Mrs. Franklin
  • Publication in a school book will be by choice and permission.

What file format should the writing be in?

  • Submissions must be in Microsoft Word (or anything that Word can read).  Try Version 97-2003 for Windows as the most compatible. (Check the Save As option.)
