Search Tips
DO's
- Use more than one word in your search
- Use quotes " " around the proper names
- Scan the first and second page of results looking for alternative search terms and potentially good websites.
- Look for "credible" sites, for example:
- the company that makes the item
- a credible resource website
- Use alternative words (maybe a thesauras in "Research Tools sidebar" for more "generic" words, for example:
- "movies" also means "film"
- "airplane" may also mean "glider"
- "flush toilet" could be "water closet" or "wc"
- Watch out for "Google Ads" or other Ads on the page that will lead you astray. Look instead for sections headings to give you a clue.
DON'Ts
- SEARCH JUST FOR ONE WORD! It will just return a lot of websites that will try to sell you something.
