Past AssignmentsTuesday, November 24, 2009 1) AR Quiz on The Challenge 2) IS THIS FINISHED? THERE ARE 15 LISTED IN THE BOOK REVIEW FOLDER. IS YOURS ONE OF THEM? Book Review Part 2: Go to the student wiki. Create your own page using the template: Book Review with TuxPaint Illustration. Title your wiki page with your book title and your name. Replace all the <xyz> instructions with information. Do you remember how to add your TuxPaint drawing? Is it ready for students to comment? 3) Browse through the Book Reviews. Are there any you can comment on? Practice your appropriate, complete academic commenting. Proofread before allowing the comment to post. 4) BrainPOP. Watch the video earth's structure: http://www.brainpop.com/science/earthsystem/earthsstructure/ Take the quiz on line (DO NOT PRINT). 5) Finished? Make a Thanksgiving Card for a friend or relative. Monday, November 23, 2009 1) Work through each lesson for Topic 7 in EnVision. Watching the video is optional. Tuesday, November 17, 2009 1) Go to Library of Virtual Manipulatives. Go to Grades 3-5, Numbers & Operations. Complete 7 models for each of the activities listed on your half sheet. Use tally marks to keep track. 2) Is this finished & turned in? DO YOU REMEMBER HOW? Type a one-paragraph summary of the book you are currently reading. Create a TuxPaint picture to accompany your writing. Put the 2 together on your Word Document. Make sure it fits on one page. Print it. Make a pile near the printer. 3) Read the comments on your Grantbook page. Make any changes and/or edits that your comments suggest. You'll be sharing this page with your parents tonight and asking their permission to allow your page to be posted outside of the log-in. 4) Book Review Part 2: Go to the student wiki. Go to http://mathcasts.org/gg/student/angles/angles/angles_index.html 2. Please complete 3 problems correctly from each level of measuring angles, then complete 3 problems correctly from each level of drawing angles. Remember to move the protractor to the angle. The colored "buttons" can be moved. 3. Then go to enVision math. When you log in, it will say that you have an assignment. Click on the Premium button to access your assignments. You can choose to watch the video or go straight to the quiz. Please quiz on all four lessons. 4. Finished? Go to Past Lab Assignments to check for unfinished work. If you are all caught up go to Typing, Math Facts in a Flash or Library of Virtual Manipulatives. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 1. Open your paragraph about Ropes Course and your Tux Paint picture of the trip. Listen to Ms. Mason as she walks us through the process of merging the two media. Print your when ready--one page only! 2. Go to The Library of Virtual Manipulatives: Grade 3-5 under Numbers & Operations. Try Circle 0 or Circle 21. If subtracting was tricky, you can try Number Chips, subtraction also. 3. Visit the 3 Grantbooks pages you're assigned. Make appropriate, constructive comments based on our in-class discussion. 4. WORK TO FINISH: Complete the volcano and earthquake page for Ms. Reynolds. Stack it near the printer when finished. Did you Quiz on Seedfolks? Finish work on your Dinosaur Ghosts chart. Use your notes from class to write a one-paragraph summary/description of a morning challenge at the Westminster Woods Ropes Course. Print your paragraph. 2. Go to Tux Paint. Create a scene of this morning challenge that will accompany your paragraph. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 1. Complete the volcano and earthquake page for Ms. Reynolds. Stack it near the printer when finished. 2. Did you Quiz on Seedfolks? 3. Finish work on your Dinosaur Ghosts chart. When everyone's page is open, we'll change the layout a bit and ensure it prints to one page when you're done. 4. Library of Virtual Manipulatives: Grade 3-5 under Numbers & Operations. Follow my instructions for aligning your text and setting up a table. Save your table. 2. Minimize your Word document and go to AR. 3. Log on to AR. Take the quiz for Dinosaur Ghosts. Then finish your chart. Print it when finished--1 page only! 4. Go to: http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/ Look at recent earthquakes in CA and NV and then in the San Francisco Bay Area. Write in your science notebook the 3 largest earthquakes of the day in CA and their magnitudes. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 1) After a demonstration in class of portrait-making in TuxPaint, please start with this--your portrait. 2) IDEA: Consider making a background to your portrait. 3) If you finish early, please go to Typing or Math Facts in a Flash 4) At approximately 11:40, Ms. Mason and I will walk you through the steps to add your portrait to your Grantbook page.
